‘Scientific Materialism is the New Secular Religion’
Homeopathy has become very popular in Britain and the numbers of people using this system of medicine is growing. However, it is becoming a victim of its own popularity because organised medicine in tandem with the pharmaceutical giants are taking steps to curtail its popularity and to annex it to allopathic medicine where only orthodox doctors will be able to decide on its use.
The medical profession has a history of fighting to cement its monopoly position and to outlaw any competition from lay practitioners. This is happening once again thanks to the EU where only medical doctors can practice homeopathic medicine. Anyone else, however well qualified in their chosen field, is ‘practising medicine without a licence’.
During the first half of the 20th century there was a rapid decline in the fortunes of homeopathy due to the advent of scientific rationalism. With the founding of the National Health Service in 1948 in the UK by the Socialists under the Labour Prime Minister Aneurin Bevan, the final nail was put into homeopathy’s coffin. The NHS augmented the physicians’ monopoly position and with this new ‘free medicine for all’ system and the type of medicine that was offered free to patients was in orthodox medicine only, thus restricting freedom of choice and making homeopathy available to only those who could pay for it. This Soviet-style NHS made it quite clear that even if any future application to practice within the NHS was successful, homeopaths would always be auxilliaries to doctors and in a subordinate position. They would never be their equal no matter how well qualified. In other words they would just be their lackey with no status or prestige and would have to go cap in hand to them every time they had a problem etc. because only the doctor in charge of the patient could make any sort of decision. This was and still is the humiliating and discriminatory position that fully qualified alternative therapists have to endure, even though the orthodox doctor may be absolutely clueless, unqualified and hostile to natural medicine and many are. This unedifying situation has been made infinitely worse by the UK’s membership of the European Union whose expanding tyranny continues unabated.
Homeopaths and other alternative therapists were and still are considered ‘not medically qualified’. Even today, the British Medical Association, the doctors’ trade union that represents the interests of the profession cannot bring itself to relax this rigid and inflexible position, fighting tooth and nail to retain the status of doctors as the only professionals who can be accorded the titles, political power and funding that the State so generously provides. They jealously guard their powerful position and the signs are that they are fighting a rear guard action to extend these powers even further. This has been made possibly only because we are in the European Union’s straitjacket.
Homeopathy has been under a particularly vicious campaign of attack by the apostles of scientific medicine because they simply cannot understand how a therapeutic system which treats the symptoms of a patient with microscopic doses of those remedies which create similar symptoms in the healthy could ever work. Presumably they are saying that they know all that there is to know and that we have no more new discoveries to make.
These professional debunkers constantly use the media to discredit alternative therapies in order to brainwash the public into believing that only evidence-based scientific medicine has any validity and anything else is either witchcraft or superstition or both. Within conventional science the reductionist materialistic view that asserts that matter is solely physical reigns supreme. Unfortunately the limitations of this type of dictator-science restricted by these ideas will allow no other view point.
As a consequence of this polemic that has been raging in the UK over the last few years as a result of our EU membership, the European Union has been pushing for ‘registration’ of lay homeopaths and other therapists in order to ‘protect the public’ from rogues, charlatans and the ‘untrained’ who prey on the sick and vulnerable. The faceless bureaucrats who now make a torrent of EU laws and directives that the EU fanatics here in the UK implement into law without democratic mandate bleat on about how there are no laws in the UK which restrict members of the public from practising any therapy they choose. We have had a system of Common Law under which practitioners could practice. Name me a scandal that has involved an alternative therapists here in the UK in the last 50 years? Every day in the news there is yet another scandal involving some hospital, orthodox doctor, nurse etc. that has resulted in death and mayhem.
Health and safety is the shibboleth that is used, the old saw brought out when the controllers of society want to restrict something, the old ‘protect the public’ canard. Yet again I read in a well known daily newspaper that an orthodox GP killed a patient with an overdose, and on inspection, it has been discovered that eleven more have died due to his incompetence! Apparently there will be no criminal charges! Even if a conventional doctor is struck off the register he can still practice although not in the NHS! How very comforting this must be for his unsuspecting patients. Imagine, they can still practise with private patients! Amazing!
Can you imagine if it had been an alternative therapist who had made a simple error? The therapist would have been hung, drawn and quartered, their reputation ruined and maybe even a jail sentence conferred. But not mainstream medicine, they seem to get away literally with anything and like Caesar’s wife appear to be beyond reproach.
At first glance, registration may appear to be a good thing. It would give therapists status in the form of a Parliamentary-approved persona and would attract confidence from the public. It allegedly protects the profession from ‘quackery’. This is the stick the allopaths use to beat us with. Because they are ‘registered’ this means that there are no quacks among them. However, registration certainly does not protect the public from incompetence, and there are very many doctors who certainly are incompetent. As I said, you cannot open a daily newspaper without yet another person being maimed, killed or disabled by some ‘doctor’.
With registration unfortunately there are disadvantages which at first may not be apparent. Registration will mean ‘official control’ over training, practices and supervision by the medical profession. This is the thin end of a very big fat medical wedge that will lead to the gradual medicalisation of homeopathy’s basic tenets and incorporation into organised medicine. The same will apply to all other areas of alternative medicine. This is what the EU wants and what conventional doctors would like. Patients would have no choice except to see a doctor who works for the National Health Service, which can in reality be better labelled the National Sickness Service, and the practitioners themselves will lose all their independence plus their livelihood. This happened before. It was the tool that was used by the medical profession to at first recognise homeopathy, osteopathy etc. and then to swallow them up in the United States. It happened here in the UK and is happening again. Under this State registration system, in one fell swoop all therapists would become ‘unlicensed’ unless they appeared on a register, and would be liable for prosecution. To appear on this register the so-called health professionals who work in the NHS could with a few week-end courses be considered ‘qualified’ and be registered, and practitioners with years of knowledge and experience would be rejected because orthodox medicine did not approve of their ‘training’ or their ‘expertise’ their ‘diplomas’ or any other excuse allopathic medicine could think of to marginalise and then stamp out the alternaitve practitioners. They would then be unable to get any type of insurance and to continue with their work of helping patients with a different medical approach.
In 1948 with the emergence of the State run medical bureaucracy, the Health Minister at the time gave an ‘absolute guarantee’ that homeopathy would be allowed to continue within the newly formed NHS if this is what patients wanted. However, like all political promises this one was just another load of windy rhetoric and was broken. Despite these pious assurances homeopathy continues to be squeezed by continuing assaults and attacks by allopaths who have been empowered by the European Union’s laws which now have primacy over UK law even though this is illegal and violates the Magna Carta. The Royal Homeopathic Hospital is due to be closed because it has been starved of funding and also due to the vehement denouncements of various so-called ‘experts’ who represent the vested interests of corporate medicine. It is these venomous denouncers who state that precious NHS resources must not be wasted on therapies that ‘do not work’. This is just a ruse to wean people back onto drugs and to drug them to health instead of letting Nature heal. There is no money to be made when Mother Nature heals the body.
Homeopathy is a system of treatment that developed from the natural law of ‘like is cured by like’. It differs philosophically from allopathic medicine and it is because mainstream doctors and scientists cannot understand how it works they have begun their ferocious attacks in order to wrest people away from it and to put it under their control. Unlike conventional medicine homeopathy is without risk. Because it stimulates the organism to heal itself few if any side effects have been reported. If people want to save homeopathy and have this type of alternative medicine practised by the people who really understand its principles and have the understanding and intuition to use it - the real experts in other words - they must first and foremost fight to get out of the European Union and its pernicous laws so that we can get back to UK Common Law that allows us to practice so long as something is not illegal. Unlike the EU under the Napoleonic Code which only allows what the State ‘permits’. So you know what you must do, keep the pressure up for this country to leave this stifling, corrupt bureaucracy so that we can once again be free again to practice safely and humanely under UK Common Law.
