It has come to my attention through doing a
great deal of searches on the internet over the last month and from the
articles below
that the World Health Organisation's report
on homeopathy 2005 was deliberately suppressed. Had it not been
through a couple of forums, a Skeptic website and Dr. Peter
Fisher's report, I would not have realised the degree to which
the WHO report was squashed and killed off from public view.
In the forum
discussion above, they can find no sign of the Homeopathy Report on
the WHO website. www.who.org
The
Skeptics article, which revealed what had truly been going on, is here:-
The draft WHO
Report clearly stated that homeopathy was the second leading choice of
healthcare worldwide and that there was strong evidence that it worked.
(I think second leading healthcare choice speaks for itself but this knowledge was to be actively and
deliberately suppressed from the world).
Clearly the choice of 24th December -

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Deviating from the trend of rejecting homeopathy treatment and medicine as mere
placebos, the World Health ...
as the date that the New India
Press published it, was chosen so that
as few people as possible would notice it. I remember being told about
the article at the time and trying to get it up on the internet, whereupon
it kept coming up and disappearing repeatedly, making me think even then it was
being censored.
Even now, after extensive searching, the only website which has the
original article that was published in New India Press, is Wonders of

WHO RECOGNITION FOR HOMEOPATHY

According to Dr. Peter Fisher who heads the Royal Homeopathic Hospital in
London, UK and is the Queen’s homeopathic physician:
"The same issue of The Lancet featured a leak of the World Health Organisation's (WHO) draft
report on homeopathy. The WHO document was apparently leaked to The Lancet by Dutch and Belgian doctors hostile to
homeopathy; their comments and the (hostile) comments of Prof. Edzard Ernst of
the University of Exeter were published. Dr Xiaorui Zhang, Traditional
Medicine Coordinator of WHO, who is responsible for the report, was also
interviewed, but declined to comment on a leaked, confidential draft. This leak
came only 2 days after The Times
of London published, as its front page lead, a remarkably similar story: a leak
of the Smallwood Enquiry on The Role of Complementary and Alternative Medicine
in the NHS commissioned by The Prince of Wales' Foundation for Integrated
Health. It is ironic that the editor of The Lancet, Dr Richard Horton, wrote to The Times accusing Prof. Ernst of having ‘broken every
code of scientific behaviour’ for leaking the draft report of the Smallwood
Enquiry (and incidentally describing complementary medicine as ‘a largely
pernicious influence… preying on the fears and uncertainties of the sick’),
while simultaneously doing the same to the WHO report in his own journal! http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1375230

Excerpt: "Unfortunately WHO cannot receive funds from the
pharmaceutical industry," he wrote to Mary Baker of the EPDA in June 2006.
"Our legal office will reject the donation. WHO can only receive
funds from government agencies, NGOs, foundations and scientific institutions
or professional organisations. Therefore I suggest that this money should be
given to EPDA and eventually EPDA can send the funds to WHO which will give an
invoice (and acknowledge contribution) to EPDA, but not to GSK."
He added: "This is in line with what
we have done so far with other contributions to the report which are all coming
from other professional organisations."

(Recent article

However,
homeopath Jo Redmond, director of the Health Works clinic in east London, says
they are treating more young families and more black and Asian patients.
"People
think it is only a white, middle-class domain, or only for people who have
treatments themselves. We are seeing parents who are fed up with doctors and
don't want endless prescriptions." http://lifeandhealth.guardian.co.uk/health/story/0,,2017092,00.html?gusrc=rss&feed=1
