In spite of all of the efforts to explain to the EU that animal testing of household products is far worse than useless, the vivisection industry, with its corporate clout and its pals within the European Commission, has prevailed.  30,000 chemicals, which have been in use by humans for over 25 years, are to be forced on to laboratory animals.

Science-based methods of toxicologocal assessment have long been available : these are not "alternatives"  : nonsense is not an alternative to sense : they have nothing in common.

The rabbit can eat death-cup mushrooms, penicillin kills guinea-pigs, cats have no problem with botulinum poison nor mice with hemlock, guinea pigs and rabbits can tolerate large doses of strychnine ..  the list can be lengthened at will.

At the American National Institute of Environmental Health Services, ten feet of shelving is taken up by the results of carcinogenicity tests on rodents over a thirty year period. A quarter of the substances tested were positive in the rat and negative in the mouse or vice versa : and the human ? No one can say. Whilst this was going on the cancer plague rose out of control : we now face a situation in the near future where the new born citizen is more likely to develop cancer, at some time, than to avoid it. Not to mention the - at the last count, ten years ago - other 30,000 diseases.

Hundreds of thousands of combinations of synthetics - medical, agricultural, industrial, military - are now in the world-wide environment : all "safety-tested" on whichever species it took to produce the required result. Consequently, apart from the Earth inhabitants, dead and damaged, by the untold million,  we have lakes, rivers, trees, areas of land,  lifeless from the synthetic deluge.

So, the vivisection mentality is, literally, costing us the Earth : and now the criminally incompetent and the plain criminal are to use another 15 - to 45 million sentient beings , depending on which liar you believe, in making the situation even worse.
