GET MEPs TO SIGN THE GMO DECLARATION
NOW! ONLY 22% OF MEPs DON'T WANT GMOs!!! BUT IT IS STILL NOT TOO
LATE TO TAKE ACTION!
Dear Zeus Subscriber,
70% to 80% of citizens in the European Union countries don't
want GMOs, but only 22% of Members of the European
Parliament (MEPs) don't want them. SO WHO DO 78% OF MEPs
REPRESENT?!!?
Why do they ignore our letters and fail to endorse the
wishes of the
people? Are most European Parliamentarians in the pocket of
the dominant agribusiness corporations?
WE MUST NOT LET THEM REMAIN SILENT ABOUT SUCH AN IMPORTANT ISSUE!
So far 160 MEP's have signed up to the Written Declaration
number 14/2006 on genetically modified food, seeds and
fodder whose main call is for the right of EU countries &
regions to make their own decisions concerning the import
and planting of GMOs.
The European Parliament is in a position to challenge the
European Commission through the means of this declaration.
It requires 50% of MEPs to sign the document in order for it
to become official
and would send a powerful message to European policy makers
at a crucial time in the GMO debate.
IT IS STILL NOT TOO LATE TO PERSUADE MEPs TO SIGN THE
DECLARATION! The cut-off point for this declaration to be
accepted is June 12th.
Please help us by once again
sending letters to MEPs and by distributing this information
as widely as possible.
(*See letter you can send at bottom of this
email. Attached is list of email addresses of United Kingdom
MEPs who haven't signed yet - you need to send letter to them all - copy
& paste into To: section)
Even if you are not in Europe,
you can still send the letter because if we can stop genetically modified food
over here, who knows it will help stop it in the rest of the world!!

for
EUROPEAN MEPs - please get email addresses from http://icppc.pl/pl/gmo/index.php?id=224 for your country
and use this or your own letter.

Dear MEP,
It is very encouraging to see that some 40% of the UK has taken the step of
declaring itself GMO Free. Hopefully this area will further expand as more information
about the harmful effects of genetically engineered foods and seeds become
recognised. We would like to draw your attention to Declaration no 14/2006
because by signing this document YOU WILL BE SUPORTING A GMO FREE ENGLAND and
GMO FREE EUROPE.
About the Declaration no 14/2006 http://icppc.pl/pl/gmo/index.php?id=198
In order to support a "GMO-free Europe", in March 2006, Mr
Janusz Wojciechowski MEP, the Polish Vice-President of the Agriculture
Committee, and three other MEPs: Ms Caroline Lucas form the United Kingdom, Mr
Ioaannis Gklavakis from Greece and Mr Thijs Berman from the Netherlands
submitted to the European Parliament the Written Declaration no 14/2006 on
genetically modified food, seeds and fodder. The main demand of the Declaration
is to make change in the European law, permitting each member state and each
region to forbid the cultivation of GMOs in its area! We are therefore urging
you to sign this declaration.
The signatures will be collected until the 13th of June 2006.You can sign
the Declaration during the plenary sessions - in the front of the Hemicycle or
in between the plenary sessions in the room PHS 02A019 inBrussels.
We look forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely
